A great night

Igniting

We had a great night on Thursday, with 400 in attendance at Blau Auditorium, great energy, and great talks. Thanks to everyone who participated and came out for Ignite 3. We’ll be updating the Ignite 3 Program page with links to the ustream videos shortly.

Don’t forget to add your photos to the ignitea2 Flickr pool!

An interesting chart of attendee geography is below. This is not just an Ann Arbor crowd, it’s a SE Michigan crowd, which is great. Check it out:

Ignite 3 Speaker Deadline is Wednesday at Midnight!

We’re really excited to get the final talk submissions in. Fill out the proposal form to get your hat in the ring!

Ignite talks are 5 minutes, with 20 slides that advance every 15 seconds. We’re looking forward to hear what you have to say!

Ignite 3 will be held Thursday March 4th at 7pm at Blau Auditorium, presented by the Michigan Entrepreneurship and Venture Club.

GIW Drumbeat

From Brady Forrest:

Mozilla is launching Drumbeat, a global community of everyday internet users trying to make the web better and more open. As part of this global launch, Ignite is partnering with Mozilla to help mobilize support to keep the web open. The fact is, while many people use the internet and like the notion that it is open, few understand what the open web actually means. Mozilla and Ignite are looking for dynamic and engaging presentations to explain what the open web means so that everyone – your mom, your dad, your colleagues, your friends – can understand what the open web is, and why it should matter to them.

As an extra incentive and to spur some friendly competition, Mozilla and Ignite will ask people to vote for the presentations they believe best explain the open web. A group of leading internet thinkers from Mozilla and O’Reilly will then invite some of these most compelling presenters to participate in the Global Drumbeat festival scheduled to take place in Europe later this year.

To participate a speaker should enter any Global Ignite event, give a talk explaining the open web, and ensure a copy of their Ignite talk is videotaped and posted to the Ignite website.

So, if there’s anyone in Ann Arbor interested in talking about the Open Web at Ignite 3, you still have until Wednesday night to sign up!

Announcing Ignite Ann Arbor 3 GIW

giw

Igniters on six continents have answered the call–they’ve signed up to bring Ignite to nearly 60 cities the week of March 1-4, and Ann Arbor is holding it’s event March 4th at Blau Auditorium.

If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Around the world geeks have been putting together Ignite nights to show their answers. We consider geekery to equal passion, so we’re looking for food geeks, tech geeks, music geeks, art geeks, history geeks, and others to come and share their stories.

The Call for Speakers is up, fill out our form to submit your talk proposal!
Application Deadline is 11:59pm, February 10th
